Vision Mission and Finance

Our Vision

Our Vision is for a society and communities where at-risk and vulnerable people are empowered with the skills, understanding, resources and will to develop their own solutions to

  • Understanding personal violence triggers and finding alternative behaviours and coping strategies in violent and stressful situations
  • Bridging divides and healing pain, taking responsibility for and understanding the impact of violence on victims, self and others
  • Building safer and stronger communities through change that is sustainable.

Our Mission

Khulisa UK is the independent arm of the very successful Khulisa Crime Prevention Initiative in South Africa and was created in the UK:

  • To reduce UK offender and re-offending rates, cutting the costs and impact of crime and imprisonment

Delivering a nation-wide reach of our dynamic research-backed behaviour change programmes. These will be rolled out within prisons and young offender institutions and through collaborative partnerships with well-established agencies offering rehabilitation and reintegration programmes and projects.

Sustaining positive change and promoting community cohesion through education and social regeneration projects is also central to our ethos.

  • To create a safer society

Through our work we aim to create a sea change in behaviours and attitudes, violent crime reduction and lower numbers in prisons and young-offender units (diverting youth from the criminal justice system) and consequential savings in public and government expenditure and resource. We aim to help create the safer society we all want and need.

  • To promote Restorative Justice

Creating understanding, respect and promoting the use of restorative justice as a practical, cost saving and effective alternative to the current justice system for particular offences. Restorative Justice, when appropriately delivered, encourages conflict resolution, victim impact awareness (respect for and adherence to victim rights), restoration and healing.
