Helen Streeter
Helen Streeter Helen joined Khulisa UK in September 2009. She first became involved in the work of the organisation during a visit to South Africa in 2007 when she spent some time volunteering in its Durban and Empangeni branches. After visiting Khulisa projects in both urban and very rural areas she left feeling inspired by the ethos of ‘ubuntu’ (or community spirit) that is apparent throughout the organisation as well as the transformative power of Khulisa’s programmes. When an opening came up to become involved in the establishment of Khulisa in the UK she jumped at the chance! Helen graduated from Nottingham University in 2004 with a degree in English Studies. Prior to Khulisa Helen worked for Media for Development running a project for prison service staff to set up innovative new projects. She also spent three years working with young people in Hertfordshire and London at the Prince’s Trust.

Helen Streeter married Sandile Mthiyane in traditional Zulu style! Vulamehlo, South Africa, April 2010! She has jus given birth to her first baby daughter Mbali which means flower in Zulu. Helen is currently on maternity leave till early 2013.
