Mat Ilic, Chair is Chief Executive of Only Connect London & Strategy Director, Justice at Catch-22. He was previously Senior Policy & Projects Officer in the Violent and Youth Crime Team at Greater London Authority. Mat has a background in evaluation and project management and holds degrees from the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics.
Peter Babudu grew up in South London and, after attending Oxford University, worked as a junior economist at the Bank of England and as a corporate solicitor at Clifford Chance. Peter is now Senior Manager at The Social Innovation Partnership, a social consultancy that delivers a number of projects in the youth and criminal justice sectors. He is also Vice Chair of an inner city comprehensive secondary school and an On Purpose Fellow.
Aditi Thorat is Director of Development at the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Aditi has worked in international development for twelve years and has strategic experience in the non-profit, philanthropy and leadership sectors. Previous roles were London Director for Common Purpose, UK Director of Leaders’ Quest Foundation, Chief Operating Officer of Indian venture philanthropy organisation EdelGive Foundation and Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan in India. Aditi sits on the UK board of EMPower – the Emerging Markets Foundation. Aditi has a Master’s degree in Philosophy Politics Economics from the University of Oxford where she was a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Chevening scholar.
Shajan Miah was born and raised in London and Manchester and has been working and volunteering in the criminal and social justice sector since 2008. In 2010 he trained and participated in Khulisa’s Silence the Violence programme before joining the BBC as a broadcast news and sports journalist where he still works today.
Tim Rennie, Secretary, originally from New Zealand, Tim grew up in a mixed community with a large Maori/Polynesian population which shaped his views on community and social justice. Tim worked as a lawyer for the New Zealand Ministry of Fisheries, the Overseas Investment Office and in private practice before moving to the UK. Tim worked in-house for PayPoint and British Gas and is currently Head of Legal for epay Worldwide.
Jill Finney is a senior executive director with over 15 years Executive Board experience in strategy, leadership, senior stakeholder management, strategic marketing and communications across private and public organisations. Jill has held senior roles in multiple sectors, including
Nominet, Care Quality Commission, The British Library and Ernst & Young, with extensive experience in Government Relations and Regulation. Jill joined Khulisa in 2016 and is also a Lay Trustee to the Imperial College Union Board.
Jonathan Bines, Treasurer,is a Partner at JLT Specialty Ltd, one of the world’s largest insurance providers of insurance. Jonathan has over 12 years experience in the design and placement of both conventional and non-conventional UK and International Casualty programmes and is an expert in providing complex risk transfer solutions multinational clients. He has worked for Integro, Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Marsh, is ACII qualified and as a Lloyds broker.
Shivani Smith (joining June 2016) is Marketing and Development Director at NFP Consulting and brings a strong set of business skills and experience of fundraising, communications and organisational development to Khulisa built over 16 years in the UK and internationally. Shivani previously worked for the nfpSynergy, the Twist Partnership, Rathbone and Cause & Effect. Shivani joins Khulisa at a period of organisational change and exciting growth where her skills in people and organisational performance and development will be of strategic importance.
